Facilities

The facilities at Bishop Ludden are designed to provide you with everything you need for a successful, well-rounded education.  From our library/media center to our resource room, our focus is on your success.

The Rev. Daniel Muscalino Chapel

The chapel at Bishop Ludden Jr/Sr High School was constructed in a strategic location when the school was first built in 1963. It was placed in the center of the co-institutional program.

The physical presence of Christ in the center of the school embraces our philosophy and mission. As a Catholic school, we are constantly reminded of the importance of making
Jesus Christ not only the center of our school, but of every student’s life. Members of our Campus Ministry program take care of the chapel’s upkeep to provide a space that is welcoming and prayerful. Daily prayer, morning mass, religion classes, adoration, sacrament reception, and quiet reflection time are all activities which bear witness and promote spiritual growth.

On May 15, 2003, the chapel was dedicated to the Reverend Daniel C. Muscalino to honor his 25th ordination anniversary and his long-standing status as a member of the faculty in the Foreign Language and Religious Studies Departments. Make a prayerful visit to the Reverend Muscalino Chapel the next time you are at Bishop Ludden.

Dorothy M. Maione Library Media Center

The Dorothy M. Maione Library Media Center houses an excellent reference collection, a circulating collection of over 8,000 fiction and non-fiction titles, over 20 magazine subscriptions, and a video library of college and educational titles.  Our on-line catalog allows electronic access to our entire collection.  With a seating capacity of 50 students, the library allows classroom research instruction, as well as individual student use.

The library has been recognized by the New York State Education Department as an Advanced Electronic Doorway Library.  Through our local BOCES, we are able to offer access to two on-line encyclopedias, as well as N.O.V.E.L. (New York Online Virtual Electronic Library) – which gives further access to EBSCO Host and Gale databases – Newsbank, CQ Researcher and ProQuest.  These electronic databases give our faculty and students access to thousands of magazines, newspapers, newswires and scholarly journals, preparing them for the next steps in their educational journey.

The World of Science

The Science Wing houses the earth science, biology, chemistry and physics laboratories in four classrooms, where students are able to interact creatively and engage in the study of science.  This Science Wing provides an environment to challenge our students and encourage them to observe, test and question the known and unknown.

Science is constantly changing.  Each new day, discoveries are being made and advances in technology are entering the market.  Bishop Ludden is committed to our students, and we continue to provide the necessary tools and programs to challenge each child.  We strive to provide our students with every possible educational edge as they prepare to enter life beyond the walls of Bishop Ludden.

Resource Room

The resource program at Bishop Ludden is designed primarily to meet the diverse needs of students with official school district I.E.P. (Individual Education Plan) and formal 504 Plans.  Students must be capable of learning appropriate grade level concepts within the classroom.  The resource teacher assists the students in meeting their I.E.P. goals and provides support in academic classes.  Classroom teachers work in conjunction with the resource teacher to provide the best educational setting and method for each individual student.

Student Services

There are two full-time Guidance Counselors available to students.  Additionally, there is one part-time ADA-PEP (Alcohol-Drug Abuse Prevention Education Program) Counselor and a full time Social Worker who provide personal adjustment counseling to students at all grade levels.

Students also have access to a health clinic staffed by a full-time nurse, a well-equipped library, a full-service cafeteria, and the Knight Club – our after-school store where students can purchase soft drinks and snacks.
